About the Event

Cosplay Skate is a non-profit, community funded event hosted by @ratherobscure.Roller skating is a physical activity with an inherent risk of injury;
by participating you assume the risk of injury.

- Masks are required at all times except when actively eating/drinking.- All skaters must fill out this safety waiver within 30 days of the event!- Skate rentals are included with admission. Attendees are welcome to bring personal skates!- The rink cafe will not be operational during the event. Please plan accordingly! There will be vending machines with drinks available.- Quarter operated lockers are available onsite for attendees to store belongings.

Rink Rules

- Headgear, headsets, Bluetooth headphones, and sunglasses may not be worn while roller skating.- Hats may not be worn while skating except when secured with a hat clip available for purchase at the rink Skate Shop for $3.- Loose items are not permitted on the skating floor, e.g., cell phones, cameras, stuffed animals, etc.- Loose clothing draped around the body (long scarves, jackets around the waist, capes, & long tails) may not be taken on the skating floor.- All guests must wear skates to be on the skating floor. For everyone's safety, the following behaviors are prohibited: jumping, fast or reckless skating, weaving, zigzagging, and practicing roller derby moves through traffic. Pushing, shoving, racing, chasing, or playing tag is not permitted anywhere in the Roller Rink.- All skaters must keep moving while on the skating floor; skaters may not stop and stand along the sidewalls or eat and drink over the walls.- No one may pick up and/or carry anyone while wearing skates, including parents of small children.- Sitting on, or jumping over, the sidewalls is not allowed. Sitting on laps or showing excessive affection is not permitted.

Frequently Asked Questions

How will admission work?
All attendess are expected to pay admission through Ticketbud. You will recieve an email receipt with your tickets, just like a convention! On the day of the event, volunteers will scan your QR code at the door.

Does everyone need to pay?
Everyone who intends to skate must pay admission. This event would not be possible without the help of community funding. Guests who will not be skating (ie, parents/guardians or care-givers) may accompany paid skaters without paying for admission.

Can I get a refund if I can't make it to the event?
Refunds can be issued via Ticketbud. Hang onto your receipt!!

Mascot Contest

Calling all artists! PDX Cosplay Skate is looking for a new mascot! Are you up for the challenge? The winning mascot will be determined by community vote & used as the face of our event going forward! Please read the terms & conditions below before entering!

Contest Overview
Prizes: Each winner will receive free admission to our October event (date TBD).
1st Place: $50 EpicCosplay Wigs gift card and $50 cash (via preferred digital payment method)
2nd Place: $30 EpicCosplay Wigs gift card or $30 cash (via preferred digital payment method)
3rd Place: $20 EpicCosplay Wigs gift card or $20 cash (via preferred digital payment method)

Agreement to Rules & Contract
By entering, you accept the following rules and contract, including the intellectual property provisions. The winning mascot will be featured on non-commercial promotional materials for future PDX Cosplay Skate events, including our website, Instagram posts, and flyers.
Entry Requirements
Artists must be 18+ to enter. Entrants under 18 years old must have parental permission to enter.
Each entry must include 1 (one) full-body illustration on a transparent background and at least 1 (one) chibi illustration of the character. Full color, 300dpi. Files must be in PNG, PSD, or AI file formats.Theme: Entries must represent the heart & soul of Cosplay Skate! Character designs are encouraged to incorporate roller skates, 80's/90's or decora fashion, and shapes inspired by roller rink carpets. Let your imagination run wild!Super Important Legal Stuff
All entries must be new original characters designed specifically for this contest! You may not enter mascots previously submitted for other contests, pre-existing OCs or designs, or characters derived from industry IPs (no fanart/fan characters).
Intellectual property transfer for 1st place winner: Upon announcement of the contest winners, the first place winning entry, including any current and future derivative works (created by you or us), immediately becomes the intellectual property of PDX Cosplay Skate, including any and all copyright, trademark, and any other intellectual property interest. By entering, you both agree to this transfer and warrant that you are able to make such transfer. All other entries (2nd, 3rd, and non-winning entries) are relieved of this commitment.Personal portfolio use: You may display, copy, distribute, and sell your entry art for personal or portfolio purposes, provided that you do so in a manner that does not represent or conflict with PDX Cosplay Skate's exclusive publicity use as described above. You may continue to do so even if your entry wins and after the intellectual property transfer.Disqualification: PDX Cosplay Skate may disqualify any entry if any of its entrants violate the rules or if we discover a legal issue impeding the intellectual property transfer. If we must disqualify an entry after it has been announced as the winner, then the prize will not be awarded, the intellectual property transfer will be released, and the next qualified entry will receive the prizes. (ie. if 1st place is disqualified, the 2nd place entry will be crowned the winner.)Modifications & Re-Entries
You can submit an updated entry before the deadline, replacing an earlier version.
You may submit no more than (2) two unique entries. (You may not enter two similar variations on a single entry—pick your best version.)PDX Cosplay Skate reserves the right to make modifications to contest rules if need be. Such modifications will be publically announced. We will not change the rules in a way that violates the integrity of the contest or unfairly reduces your contractual rights.
